More Volunteers Needed for Project Pathways

Source: Amikaria

The two week Project Pathways volunteer project in early June was a roaring success, as a group of volunteers, locals and visitors from around the world, cleared a number of footpaths around Arethousa and Karavostamo, on the island of Ikaria. But now that we have finished clearing the pathways we really need to make sure that people keep using them. The original volunteers have all returned to their everyday lives in their various corners of the world but we now need a new volunteer. We are looking for someone to come and stay at the Ikarian Centre from mid-July until mid-September, and to work on promoting the pathways to visitors to the island. Our first idea is to offer twice weekly guided walks on the footpaths between Karavostamo and Arethousa, together with a survival Greek lesson or a lesson in traditional Ikarian dance. The volunteer would help in planning, promoting and running the guided walks, as well as helping out with some of the other daily admin tasks at the Ikarian Centre, and providing new ideas and inspiration for how to further develop project pathways.

But if that sounds like a lot, don’t worry, there will still be plenty of time every day to explore the island, meet the locals, and go to the beach. If you would like to volunteer, or would like more information, then please contact us using the form below.
